As I begin my 3rd year as the Council Kernel, I have seen some pretty astounding groups grasp profits of Scouts Canada's Scout Popcorn Sale. Not only has New Brunswick Council grown its members over the last 2-3 years, they too continue to "power-up" there popcorn sales to bring in massive profits for there sections and groups. More and more groups are seeing that the popcorn system is win-win for everyone!

New Brunswick Council is pleased acknowledge that our participating groups have pushed 2009 sales yet another 40% higher then 2008's goal. This calculates to over ½ a million dollars worth of popcorn sold in the last 3 years in New Brunswick Council. Scouting groups are continuing to see and great taste the huge value in Gourmet Scout Popcorn each year and the sales results are proving it!

For a first in New Brunswick Council this year, a automatic prize program has been made available to all individuals who participated by selling in the 2009 popcorn fundraiser. The prize program consisted of 11 dollar levels with 3 prizes at each stage in which sellers could set a goal and obtain a prize. New Brunswick Council awarded 1, 938 popcorn prizes valued at over $9450. WAY TO GO EVERYONE!

The Kernel's salute goes to all participating groups and wishes to recognizes the Council's top selling groups:
  • 1st Steeves Memorial (Southeast Service Area) - $29, 140
  • 1st Oromocto (Rivorton Service Area) - $16, 645
  • 1st St. David's (Fundy East Service Area) - $14, 835
  • 1st St. Paul's United (Fundy East Service Area) - $11, 115
  • 1st Marysville (Riverton Service Area) - $10, 920
I am honored to serve as Kernel of our Council's 2009 Popcorn Sale. Thanks to all the youth, parents, leaders, and "Friends of Scouting" who have helped us make our Trail's End Scout Popcorn Sales successful in the past and in the future.

Respectfully submitted,
Jeff Melvin
Popcorn Coordinator
New Brunswick Council
